What I like about it is that the sync is over the air, both ways and practically instantaneous (push) ... The contacts are a bit of a pain to set up given that you would not want the gazillion people in your gmail address book on your mobile ... but with a little bit (okie make that 'a lot of') cleaning up of the address book it works like a charm! ...
